Welcome to Coffee and Canvas

A seat at our table and a brush with your name on it

Whoever you are and whatever brought you here, you belong. We bring everything: canvases, paints, aprons, easels and a friendly artist to guide you, one brushstroke at a time. All you need to bring is yourself.

Born in Bronzefield

Where pain became power and purpose

My story began somewhere you may never expect. On 31 March 2026, I was remanded to HMP Bronzefield and locked in a cold, quiet cell.

I was there because of false allegations. I had spoken the truth, set boundaries and raised real concerns, and my voice was silenced. I had bland food, a TV, a phone line, a flask, a chapel pack and a wing full of women.

Waiting for release. Waiting for recognition. Waiting for love.

Then we picked up paintbrushes. I smiled. I made eye contact. I felt excited again. On 14 April, at 10am, I walked out, and I carried that feeling with me.

Today I’m inviting every woman who has lived through domestic abuse, every victim and every survivor, into this circle, so that together we can become whole again.

More than a painting

The calm, the laughter, the pride of “I made that”

Creativity is good for us. A World Health Organization review of more than 900 publications found that the arts play a real part in promoting health and wellbeing. At Coffee and Canvas you’ll feel it for yourself.
